The Janssen plant in Latina uses two AGV systems to move pallets and bins between the warehouse, production, and shipping.
A project to update the Kollmorgen components for the AGVs’ laser guidance and navigation system has been initiated, along with some modification requests related to the pallet load exchange stations.
Regarding the upgrade of the Kollmorgen components on board the AGV, all internal electrical connections were rebuilt, the basic software was updated, and the vehicle application designer was updated.
Afterwards, various calibrations and positioning tests were performed until the results were fully satisfactory.
Regarding the workstation upgrades, some were moved and others were added.
Due to these changes, some laser reflectors were added, and everything was managed via Kollmorgen’s Layout Designer, in addition to small modifications to the mission management and control system.
It is important for the customer to have a modular system that can be expanded step by step over the time without production interruption.
