The Hanwha plant produces plastic granulate that the automaker uses to melt and mold cockpits and various plastic car parts.
The YeoCheon plant is building a new automated warehouse, serviced by a system of 12 AGVs. The warehouse management software system is designed to handle a high flow of incoming and outgoing pallets.
The system has too many delays compared to the flow management needs, so much of the work has being done to completely rewrite the system management philosophy, moving from a state- and timer-based system to an event-driven one.
This allows traffic control and mission assignment programs to react immediately based on digital signals in the field and telegrams received from the AGVs.
The communication protocol between the AGVs and the host computer is further improved, eliminating repeated telegrams and improving error handling.
The AGV traffic management program and the mission assignment program are being standardized, forming the basis for future AGV projects.

AGV system controller: HP Risc Machine with Informix database, AGVs are communicating via infrared transreceivers.
Charging concept: charging stations with contacts on top of the AGV, when batteries are low, the vehicle is sent there to stay and charge, as well the AGV goes on charger when there are no transports to execute.
