The Cartiere Burgo company, due to a constant filling of the paper reel warehouse, decides to rationalize its use, moving from completely manual management to semi-automatic management with warehouse management software, taking control over the map of the paper reel warehouse on the ground.

The central computer assigns the tasks to a Telefrang radio terminals installed on the forklifts that transports the reels to the warehouse.

When the operator declares himself free, the computer assigns him the next task to be performed according to an optimization logic.

Once the operator has retrieved the reel, he confirms the operation via the radio terminal; the computer then declares the station free, available for other tasks. When the operator completes the deposit of the reel, he confirms the operation by pressing a button on the radio terminal; the central computer declares the station occupied and assigns the operator the next task to be performed.

Management of low-level programming of the Telefrang radio terminals, developement of the communication with the factory host computer, and warehouse map management.

MGV navigation type: guided by the operator.

Traffic controller: 486 PC, in warm backup, with Digiboard multiserial ports, connected to all devices on the layout, DI/DO signals and infrared transreceivers to communicate with MGVs.

Charging concept: the manual truck has lead batteries that get charged manually over the night.

This MGV system is working over two shifts, morning and afternoon.

Number of MGVs: 5

Function: Order handling and warehouse map handling, as well as coordination of a local supplier that made some electrical cabinet to connect all signals and sensors on the layout.
